It is February, and with it comes a long period of waiting for spring.
You don't have to sit sadly at home; you should go out for fun at various balls or New Year's concerts. If you do not like large crowds, invite a few friends to your home and prepare great refreshments for them. It does not matter if you are not a Michelin chef; refreshments do not have to be demanding but rather imaginative and, of course, tasty. A great helper for such creation is quite ordinary puff pastry.
Today, it is commonly available in several stores and quickly at hand in frozen form. Roll it out, fill it with a dense savory filling, and bake it as a roll. With various types of fillings, you can always conjure up something different. Or you can spread ketchup on the dough, top it with a few slices of cheese and ham, and bake the rolls individually. Puff pastry squares can be placed in a muffin tin and also filled with filling. After baking, tasty and quite filling packages are created. Various types of cheese, colorful soft vegetables, eggs, mushrooms, roasted bacon, herbs, or spices can be added to the filling, more or less spicy according to taste. Puff pastry is great for making various sticks sprinkled with coarse salt, caraway, or sesame.
You will also please your guests with a sweet variant. The old well-known and proven apple strudel never disappoints, but surprise your friends with something new. For example, complement apples with pudding or curd cheese, use poppy seeds or grated coconut instead of classic breadcrumbs on the bottom of the dough, add various nuts, seeds, or dried fruit to the apples. You can replace apples with another sufficiently juicy fruit variety; a short stewing helps. Puff pastry is very pliable, almost like modeling clay, so you can decorate the top of the cake with a decorative lattice or separately cut decorations.
However, this culinary creation has one disadvantage. From now on, visitors will want to come only to you.
