Many of you probably do not even realize that kefir originates from the Caucasus and Tibet. In Eastern Europe, children have been breastfed with it for many years because this product is easily digestible. However, it is children who suffer the most from various allergies. According to statistics, 6% of children under 3 years old suffer from allergies. Their most common trigger is ovalbumin - a protein from chicken eggs.
According to the latest studies, kefir could become a very effective helper in fighting food allergies. Scientists base this knowledge on test results with mice, where the mentioned dairy drink suppressed the immune response triggered by certain proteins in allergic individuals. Additionally, kefir had a positive effect on the intestinal flora of animals, which is one of the key factors in the development of allergies. After these results, scientists want to find out which substances in kefir have these positive effects.
We can only hope that the beneficial effect of kefir in fighting allergies will soon be proven in humans as well.
