Easter Braided Bread

Ingredients

480 g all-purpose flour
70 g granulated sugar
125 g SABI white yogurt
2 pcs eggs
70 ml SABI milk
80 g SABI butter
pinch of salt

Starter

40 g water
6 g dry yeast
15 g granulated sugar

Procedure

1. Prepare the starter: pour warm water into a bowl, add sugar (15 g) and dry yeast. Stir and let ferment for 7-10 minutes.

2. In a larger bowl, mix flour with sugar and salt. Add eggs, starter, yogurt, milk, and mix. Add softened butter and knead smooth dough with a mixer (takes about 10 minutes).

3. Transfer the dough to a greased bowl and let it rise at room temperature for 40 to 60 minutes.

4. Transfer the risen dough to a board, divide it into 4 equal parts, and roll each into an even roll. Twist two rolls together to get 2 twists.

5. Transfer the twisted rolls to a greased round baking or cake pan and let rise for another 30 minutes.

6. Brush the braid with beaten egg and bake for 20 to 30 minutes until golden in an oven preheated to 175 °C.

7. Let the braid cool and serve savory with Easter ham or sweet, for example with butter and jam.

TIP FROM KAROTKA: You can sprinkle the top of the braid with almond slices or sesame before baking.
