Yeast Braid with Sour Cream

150 g ham
100 g matured Sabinovská tehla cheese
200 g sour cream delicacy SABI
salt
ground black pepper
75 g butter SABI
230 ml semi-skimmed milk SABI
375 g plain flour
½ cube yeast
pinch of granulated sugar
2 eggs
10 g whole cumin
plain flour

 


Procedure

Dice the ham and place in a small bowl. Add grated cheese and sour cream. Season with salt and pepper and mix well.
Heat butter in a pot, add milk and warm to about 40 ºC. In a bowl, mix flour, crumbled yeast, sugar, and salt. Add warm milk with butter and one egg. Knead smooth dough, cover with a cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about 20 minutes.
Roll out the risen dough on a floured surface into a rectangle. Spread the prepared filling about 3 - 4 cm from the edges. Carefully roll into a log shape. Then cut lengthwise with a sharp knife. Twist both halves into a braid and transfer to a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Brush thoroughly with beaten egg on all sides and sprinkle with whole cumin. Let the braid rise for another 15 minutes. Bake for 40 minutes in a preheated oven at 170 ºC. After baking, let the braid rest for half an hour to cool.
