Perhaps at the beginning of the idea, the expectations were not as high as they eventually were fulfilled.
The company Milk-Agro, within the Recycle and Win project supporting sorting and collection of aluminum caps and packaging from Sabi products, also announced a creative competition for schools. Teachers together with children were to create interesting works not just from anything, but from packaging and caps of Sabi products. From the start, the competition had a good response, and we must marvel at what can be created from waste with imagination and skillful hands.
Works are evaluated annually and the most interesting are rewarded. No wonder schools approach it gladly and actively, and there is much to see. Eventually, the idea arose to exhibit the works in places with many people. This year, many works are exhibited in the Fórum shopping center in Poprad.
We talked about the exhibition with Mgr. Petra Krchová, marketing manager of Fórum in Poprad
In our shopping center, we have placed works made from Milk-Agro product packaging from several schools participating in the Recycle and Win project. Our task is to exhibit them to the public. These works are placed on the first and second floors, in the passage. We mentioned the exhibition on our Facebook and Instagram. We liked the idea that such works can be created from waste materials.
Is there interest from visitors?
Yes, the interest is visible here. After all, we already had a similar exhibition – building sculptures from cardboard. The works are very nice. What fascinated me about these creations was how they managed to make them. For example, I had never seen milk cartons folded like here. A peacock is made from such cartons.
It’s a pity it’s quite fragile. We try to keep it here as long as possible so it doesn’t have to be transported. When it was delivered, we thought we wouldn’t have space, but eventually, there was enough room in the passage. We were a bit worried if visitors would damage it, but it’s completely fine. People look, it’s clear they admire it, they take photos. We have a “lady” there with whom people like to take photos. It’s quite attractive for children. Right at the main entrance is a large bear from the famous cartoon Masha and the Bear. That was my favorite. It was so big.
Do you feel this form of presentation supports and motivates people to separate waste more?
I feel that visitors are generally “eco”. We see they like it. Also, the cardboard exhibition, which was also to support waste sorting. So the main idea is to attract, motivate, and support waste separation. We are the first to exhibit this year’s works; maybe later they will go elsewhere.
How long will the exhibition last?
Until 28. 6. 2017, then we must clean it up so it doesn’t get damaged because on June 30 there will be an End of School Year event here. We will have stations for children’s competitions. But on June 30, during the event, Milk-Agro will distribute curd-cream dessert Integráčik to children.
Meanwhile, we walked among the exhibited works and could admire the ideas and craftsmanship of skillful hands. It is always good when useful ideas combine naturally. In this case, it is support for creativity and imagination, support for separate waste collection, and also support for the sale of really tasty, quality, healthy, and Slovak SABI products.
