In childhood, we perceive milk consumption as essential. However, we should not give it up even in adulthood, especially due to its high content of vitamins and minerals. But not every milk contains beneficial substances. When it does and when it does not, we will explain in this article.
Types of milk
We know various types of milk: raw, fresh, or long-life (UHT). Raw milk is not processed in any way; it is milk directly milked from a cow's udder. However, this does not mean it is the healthiest. It is necessary to realize that milk contains not only many nutrients but also several harmful bacteria that can harm humans. Therefore, milk should be heat-treated. The temperature at which milk is treated affects its subsequent quality. Long-life milk (UHT - Ultra Heat Treatment) is treated with ultra-high heat at temperatures up to 135 °C, which reduces its quality. Because of this, such milk contains no bacteria but also no nutrients beneficial to humans. If heating occurs at temperatures above 90 °C, the nutritional value of milk decreases sharply. On the other hand, fresh milk undergoes gentler pasteurization at lower temperatures, preserving its quality, destroying only harmful bacteria, and maintaining most vitamins and proteins in a form easily utilized by the human body.
Fresh SABI milk
SABI milk belongs to the group of fresh milks with a shelf life of 7 days. For milk processing, we use only pasteurization, i.e., heat treatment at 72 °C for 15 seconds, or an allowable variant (higher temperature for a shorter time, max. up to 85 °C). At this temperature, potential pathogenic microorganisms in the milk are deactivated and neutralized. The higher the heat treatment, the greater the loss of vitamins and denaturation of proteins (worse digestibility) that milk should contain. Therefore, it is appropriate to say that fresh SABI milk is among particularly perfect foods, as it is made from GMO-free milk and has much higher nutritional value compared to any long-life milk. Our company cares about high quality, so we ensure that milk is on store shelves within 24 hours of milking. "Our priority is to contribute to the dairy family with the highest quality and healthiest foods. Therefore, we follow the philosophy that fresh milk should be produced as follows: raw milk milked in the morning is delivered to the dairy the same day for processing and then filled into containers. This way, we ensure that milk is on our store shelves within 24 hours of milking. That is why we use the slogan Good. Slovak!," said production specialist Ing. Peter Kočiš from Sabinov.
Milk for the little ones
SABI products are truly irreplaceable! The need for milk and dairy products in children and youth is publicly known and well justified. We realize this and have therefore introduced several programs aimed at ensuring sufficient dairy nutrition for our young. Besides the school program, where we supply dairy products to canteens and school buffets, we support dairy consumption through the competition Recycle and Win. We also participate in the nationwide project INTEGRATION - the sun shines equally for all children, which is very popular.
Is milk a perfect food?
SABI milk contains a large amount of nutrients such as vitamin B12, necessary for red blood cell formation and proper nervous system function, vitamin A, which supports our vision, and pantothenic acid, which provides enough energy throughout the day. It also contains protein peptides that help protect our body from thrombosis and high blood pressure. "SABI milk thus approaches the ideal of a complex food that provides the body with everything needed for optimal growth and development. The bioavailability of nutrients in our milk is high and places minimal burden on the body," explained production specialist Ing. Peter Kočiš from Sabinov.
How about you? Do you drink fresh milk in sufficient quantities?
