President of Slovakia Andrej Kiska visited the town center and the dairy production plant in Sabinov during his working trip on October 18.
"People here do honest work, trying to produce and sell Slovak products throughout Slovakia. Their know-how of owning the entire chain from small-scale production to retail store is demanding. It's not easy. They manage to get Slovak products all over Slovakia, which I find very unique," said President Andrej Kiska after visiting the plant.
According to one of the owners of Milk-Agro, Jozef Kundrát, they showed the president the production of butter, yogurts, and cheese.
"He was very interested in the products and had many insightful questions, so the visit was pleasant and useful for both sides," he stated.
Kiska: To keep people in the regions
As he said, they want to expand production. They currently have a building under construction where they will produce curd.
"It's a relatively high investment of about 1.5 million euros. New jobs will definitely be created, maybe for 10 to 15 people," said Kundrát, adding they want to employ them in the first half of next year.
"We have 1,450 permanent employees, plus 200 temporary workers, so we have enough people. So far, we manage to handle the situation satisfactorily," Kundrát replied when asked if they manage to find the necessary employees.
About 100 people work at the plant, the rest in 190 stores and some as helpers.
"It is true that unemployment in this region is about twice as high as in the whole of Slovakia, but on the other hand, it is also true that finding specialists is sometimes a problem. It is a task I keep talking about: education and motivation we can create for young people to stay in the regions where they were born," added Kiska.
